Full Dimensional Leadership

April 2022

Leading in and through every dimension of our being.

Thousands of books have been written on the subject of leadership.  But I find it interesting that we still have lots of questions as to exactly how to do it.

You would think that we would have it all dialed in by now, but every time I begin to work with another company or leadership team, the same questions rise up (or multiple variations of the same ones).

There seems to be a number of reasons that leaders continually struggle with the same issues.

  • We go into leadership by accident and haven’t really thought much about it.
  • We grow so fast that we can’t keep up with the changing needs in leadership etc.
  • We go into leadership believing that what worked in the last position will work in the new one.
  • We go into leadership without a plan or intentionality
  • Companies have ‘personalities’ just like people do (We usually call it culture) and there are usually significant differences just below the surface.
  • Title or position should be enough to create an environment of respect and obedience.
  • People will be excited to have me on board as the new leader.
  • Our people will embrace change eagerly

Into the Book

God has revealed His heart concerning leadership. We’ll examine the scriptures to pull out some solid principles that should guide our leadership as men and women of God.

These are just a few that I’ve encountered as I’ve come along side leaders and teams as a Corporate Coach.

The good news is that there is a set of leadership principles that God has given us.  We have to be intentional about discovering them and then learn to apply them intentionally and diligently in our role as leader wherever that might be.

These ‘rules of engagement’ are anchored in Jesus answer to the religious leaders when they asked Him what the greatest commandment was.   His answer in Matthew 22:37-39 was short but clear and full of leadership insights . . .

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

This answer opens the door to all kinds of leadership principles that are often overlooked, but powerful and effective.

Into the Workplace

God has given us the ‘rules of engagement’ for effective, wise leadership, and all the other principles and practices of leadership hang on them. This month we’ll dive into what these ‘Rules of Engagement’ are, and how to take them to work and apply them in our leadership.
